5 out of 5 stars Good product!   July 2, 2009

The product works well. It keeps my daughter very happy in the car which keeps me happy!

5 out of 5 stars excellent product for the price   June 22, 2009

For the price, this is an excellent quality DVD player. My twin toddler boys have shaken, scratched, and dropped it many times and it still plays beautifully, with a very clear screen and sound quality. Just make sure to follow initial charging instructions as well as keeping the player out of extreme temperatures and humid conditions. It is an excellent buy.

1 out of 5 stars Poor Quality   June 16, 2009
Tully M. Pick (Little Chute, WI United States)
We purchased this last year for our son to use on long trips. He's used it a total of 6 times since he received it, and the last time he tried to use it something started overheating and the player locked up. I don't know what is shorting out and I shouldn't have to dig around in a DVD player to find out what's wrong with it. Very disappointing quality, the warranty is poor, and I can't honestly recommend this to anyone I know due to these shortcomings.

3 out of 5 stars Nice, but some reservations   May 2, 2009
Jeff Shepherd (San Diego)
When I first received this it was like Christmas in a tiny box. Here is a list of what is included

* DVD player
* Removable battery
* AC adapter for wall outlet
* Power adapter for a car's cigarette lighter
* Two over-the-ears-and-behind-the-neck headphones
* Cassette adapter to play sound through the car's stereo system
* RCA cables
* Remote control (batteries included)
* Mounting bag for car headrest

Besides playing DVDs, you can also play CDs and MP3s. The unit has connections for AV out, AV in, Coaxial out (cable not included) and two headphone jacks. (I know some reviews have said there is no AV in--you have to set the function switch to AV in and the AV ports work for both input and output.)

In normal use it works fine. The picture is great, the controls are reasonable and easy to use. There are speakers if you want that and headphone jacks if you want that.

My first disappointment came on it's first use. When I first received the unit I charged it full per the instructions and the battery indicator went from red to green. Two weeks later when we brought it on the airplane after a minute of viewing there was a low battery warning and a few minutes later the battery died. I don't know if we got a bad battery or if the battery slowly drains while left in the unit. For the flight home I charged the unit before leaving and we watched a two hour movie no problem. I plan on storing the unit with the battery removed.

Second, there is an intermittent flicker in the display. I thought this might be from the vibration of the plane, but when I tested it on the kitchen table the flicker was still there. If I was using this at home for personal use, this would drive me nuts and be unacceptable, but my kids don't seem to mind and they will be the ones using it while we're traveling.

Because this is a tablet style device, the screen is exposed. The carrying case is meant to display the player on the back of a car's headrest, so it exposes the screen rather than protecting it. A flap might have been nice for storage, but it is still difficult to remove the player to change the discs. Outside of the case, there is a thin leg in back so you can prop it up at an angle. The unit has no memory so when you stop a disc and turn off the unit it doesn't remember where you left off.

So, I have mixed feelings about this unit. Without the battery drainage and screen flicker I would love it. But those are some of the major features of the unit. If I had purchased it myself, I probably would have returned or exchanged the unit. Since it was a gift we'll live with it.

3 out of 5 stars Disappointed   April 28, 2009
Christine Carey (Upper Marlboro, MD USA)
I bought this for our long car trips to visit family. I found the picture and sound to be pretty good and was impressed with all of the accessories (although I didn't have a need for most of them) but was disappointed with several features. First of all, several DVD's kept freezing or going back to the beginning throughout the trip. These DVD's play fine on our home player, so it can't be a problem with the DVD itself. I also found it annoying that I had to take the whole thing out of the holder to insert a new cd, and then when I went to put the player back into the holder, many times it would turn off because the off button brushed up against the side of the holder while sliding in. The kickstand is absolutely useless, so if you want to prop it up to watch on a table top, forget it. I also was disappointed that the player did not charge while plugged in and playing a movie. Also, the battery does not hold the charge for as long as I would have liked either. It's cheaper than many other players, but you get what you pay for.
